When Jeff Junkert found out it would be his team building the next Extreme Makeover home, "I thought it was a prank," he'll laughingly tell you today. After he learned about the Carter family. He knew what his construction company had to do.

"How can you tell someone like this, 'No'?" Jeff and his wife, Sue, both say the Carter family's selfless giving and passion for Chiari malformation awareness made the decision easy.

In one month's time, the company was able to assemble framers, electricians, masons, plumbers, sheet rockers, painters, landscapers, and all their sub suppliers. In just 106 hours, the team build a 3,400 square foot home. It was a job that normally takes, on average, six months to complete.

This customer home is a showstopper in more ways than one. It is sealed with an Energy Star certification and earned a Silver rating with the National Association of Home Builder's Model Green Home Building Guidelines. A silver rating means that this house landed at least 80% of that program's requirements.

It was constructed to take advantage of daylight to keep energy costs down, is full of Energy Star certified appliances, has high efficiency windows and insulation and has low-flow plumbing fixtures. The home was constructed with advanced framing techniques for an efficient use of lumber. The build team even recycled waste on the job site whenever possible.
